13 Things I Picked Up From My Family Room Floor

After being sick, my house looked like a tornado hit it! These are just a few things I picked up today while cleaning.

1. Barbell – I am not sure why both children think my barbells are fun toys, but I always find them in odd places. Just for the record, it hurts like a bitch to stub your toe on one.

2. Red lace nightie – This is something I used to wear. In my thinner days. And before I had children. Now Eli likes to use it for dress-up and pretend he’s a princess. (No comments from the peanut gallery on this one.)

3. Dinner fork – Georgia likes to help me unload the dishwasher. Unfortunately, the stuff she takes out never gets put away.

4. Sippy cup lid – I found only the lid because Georgia had previously dumped an entire sippy cup full of orange juice on the carpet.

5. Wiggles underwear – No, not mine. Unfortunately, they don’t make sexy Anthony underwear in my size. But for some reason, Georgia likes to run around with Eli’s underwear on her head. As long as they’re clean, I’m okay with it.

6. Unmatching socks – I buy socks every freaking week at Target. It’s just easier to buy new ones than it is to search the house for mates. I also lose pillow cases once they hit the laundry, but that’s a whole ‘nother story.

7. Bungee cord – Okay, I actually use bungee cords to tie the chairs together at our breakfast bar. If I don’t, Georgia pulls the chairs out and climbs up on the cabinet. Unfortunately, Eli is constantly annoyed that the chairs are tied together, so he takes the damn bungees off faster than I can get them on.

8. 60’s bracelet – I dressed up in 60’s-ware for a fun party a few years back. Eli found my jewel-toned 60’s bracelet that is so big it takes up half my arm. He thinks the different colors give him special powers if he pushes them. Why not?

9. Popcorn – When the hell was the last time we had popcorn?!!

10. Tennis shoe – Aha! Now, if I could only find the other one!

11. Christmas ornament – I thought our tree looked extremely bare as I was unloading it. I will probably be finding ornaments hidden throughout the house until October.

12. Dora book – I took five years of Spanish, and I can barely read the Dora fairy tale princess book. I feel so inferior.

13. Bubble air bags – All my Passion Party orders come packed with bubble air bags, which is apparently the best toy EVER! Let me tell you, if I step on one of these accidentally and it pops, it scares the bejesus out of me. Nothing like raising your blood pressure a good 20 points to start off the day!

Ooo, I've had scary moments like this when we finally get around to cleaning out the toy basket or moving the coffee table so that I can actually vacuum under it and not just around it.

Great, great, funny list!

D'oh! How did that wrascally songbird beat me here?!?

LOL about the wiggles underwear -- don't you wish they made Underoos in our size??? (my favorite Underoos growing up were Aquaman!)

And I stepped on some bubblewrap in the dark the other night -- and you're right, it scared the bejeezus outta me! (It had been on the coffee table, but chloe loves to chew on it, so of course it was on the floor...)

Happy TT!

*LOL* I am laughing so hard at your list b/c this sounds like my house! Thanks for the great list. I might have to borrow your idea next week!

Looking forward to find all these things in my home in a few years - Luis is 8 months old and it´s a piece of cake for him to transform our home into a battle field in a splitsecond. I´m happy he doesn´t play with barbells (yet)

LOL

P.S.: Please visit my TT #8 - Thanks a lot =)

Matching socks is a losing battle. I'm certain that mine get up and walk away rather than take the trip to the washing machine. We keep having to rescue them from the puppies.

Morgen -- the bigger question is why are you still awake this late at night? At least it's two hours earlier here than it is where you are!

I don't have the excuse of children to make a list of what I would be picking up...not good.

My 13 are up.

Very funny list! I could probably do 10 T13 lists on things I pick up off of my apartment floor and my first child isn't even here yet!!!

I love that Eli likes the lingerie and Georgia likes the underoo's.

I wonder what kind of adult underoo's we could come up with? Desperate Housewives underoo's? Prison Break?-- but only if the person modeling it looks like Wentworth Miller.

hey my sister used to strap bras to her head when she was a kid! So i guess we can all go through the underwear phase!!!

I don't believe you about the bungee cords. Something naughty is happening over at your place involving a red lace nightie, the bungee cord and you forcing your husband (at fork point)to put on a Michael from Prison Break mask....I wasn't born yesterday you know.
Nice try Neila.

-biting my lip to refrain from making a princess comment-

I see we all see the floor as a place shoes go to die

That list is so funny! Charlie can already destroy the living room in about 5 minutes and finds some really interesting places to put stuff. That is so funny about the underwear and I'm gonna have to find me a bracelet with special powers!

My thirteen is finally up: http://suthrnrose.blogspot.com/2007/01/thursday-thirteen.html

A few things I DIDN'T pick up off my LR floor-
1. Grocery bag with something in it. Ooops. thought I put all the groceries away. Oh well. If it once was frozen, it isn't now, so tomorrow will be fine.
2. Five #2 pencils, showing me how many times I sat down to do the crossword puzzle, only to be immediately interrupted. (Why do they wait to announce how hungry/sick/about to vomit they are till you've just sighed happily and put your feet up?)
3. The crossword puzzle, of course. Because even though it's bound to be on the floor somewhere, I don't have enough brain power at this point to find it, much less do it. Goodnight!
