Manic Monday - Branch

This week's Manic Monday word is branch. We took the children to the Plaza today to take pictures with the bunnies (long story), and I was planning to write something wickedly clever about our day.

Well, the children didn't want to take pictures, and all of the screaming and crying wore me out. So that post is going to have to wait until tomorrow.

Instead, I am going to celebrate today's Manic Monday with a picture of my Nanny (grandmother).

I think I was about 8 years old when this was taken, judging from the hair. As you can see, my Nanny was hilarious! Wisdom, a great sense of humor, and a fabulous cook all wrapped up into one!

I lost her when I was 14 years old, and I have missed her every single day for the last 21 years. She was the strongest branch of our family tree.

I don't do Manic Mondays. But I cheer for grannies everywhere, since I am one. I miss my grandma more than I miss my mom. You know how it is: your mom is in your face, but Granny just loves you.

Lord help my poor grandchildren, who have a grandma who loves Jesus, wishes she were an American Indian, and likes old rock, Christian hymns, and old-time country music. Oh yeah. God help them.

Awww...you're my first MM stop and I'm glad! :) What an absolutely adorable photo of you and your grandmother. I love it. Why were you guys flexing your bicepts?

How wonderful that you have these memories of your grandmother. While I am incredibly sad that my kids will never know my mother, they have an awesome Grandma on the dad's side. I adore my MIL, and she is a fabulous presence in my kids' lives.

Great post, Neila!

I love how Donna says every single Monday "I don't do Manic Mondays"
yea, we get it Donna - you're too "Christian" for Mo.

Anyhoo - I LOVE this picture of you and your Nanny! The corsages, the white shoes, the arm-flexing!
And what precious expressions the two of you have!
I know what you mean about missing your grandmother. I still dream of mine at least two or three nights a week.
Have a great MM!

Great MM. I did my first one today. Grandmothers are so special, I lost my own a few years ago.
Now that I have my own children I can't wait until I am the Nana.

Best wishes

I only wish Mo knew what a really pathetic Christian I am. By the way, I'm known by longtime Internet friends as "Mo" also.
