13 Reasons Winter Annoys The Hell Out Of Me

1. The bone-chilling cold! Today, the high was 15. Dude! 15 is NOT a high!

2. People and their damn parking. For some reason, if there is snow anywhere in the parking lot, people think they can park wherever the hell they want. I’m sorry, but that does not give you the right to take up three spots. Don’t pretend you can’t see the lines!

3. Our gas bill. When it is this cold, I don’t think the heat even shuts off. It probably doesn’t help the fact that I turn on our oven and stand over the open door of it with my shirt up. (Don’t tell my husband I do that.)

4. People who say things like, “Is it cold enough for ya?!” I swear to God, I’m going to bitch slap the next person who says that.

5. Warming up the car. Apparently, there has been a rash of car thefts around here. If you go out and turn your car on to warm up in the morning, people will take it when you go back inside your house. This means I have to warm my car up while sitting inside of it. That is not my idea of fun.

6. Fighting with my daughter. Because she would rather get frostbite than wear a pair of mittens.

7. People who like the cold. Yes, these crazy idgets actually exist.

8. It’s difficult to truly enjoy ice cream, and my hubby just bought me an ice cream cake for my birthday.

9. People who don’t wear coats, or who wear short skirts with bare legs and then complain about the cold. Would I legally get in trouble for smacking these people in the head?

10. People and their damn parking again. Just because it’s cold, you do not have the divine right to park directly in front of the door to the preschool. I don’t want to walk around your damn car to get in the building. Park in a parking space like the rest of us!

11. Did I mention the cold? I’m cold when it’s 75 degrees outside. At 15, I physically cannot get warm even when I wrap myself in a king-size heating pad, which I do most of the day.

12. The fact that the electric blanket only goes up to 10. If you’ve seen Spinal Tap, you know that sometimes you need an 11.

13. Ice. It snowed last week, and everything seems to have turned into giant ice chunks, or stealth ice patches which tend to appear whenever I step out of the car. Grrrr!

I learned a new appreciation for winter over New Year's, but you've got a lot of really good points here.

In my own defense about the parking right by the door thing... I did it last year at preschool because the lot was never plowed well and if I slipped once more on the ice, I was facing major knee surgery. And I mean MAJOR.

Sometimes, you do what you gotta do...

We hardly have winter at all in Florida, and I don't miss it at all. The cold is vastly overrated!

Just look forward to the summer! Then everyone will be saying "Hot enough for ya?"

You are totally preaching to the choir here! I want SPRING!

I am so sick of Winter in general and THIS winter specifically. When is all the global warming going to kick in and do away with winter?

Well its number 68 for me this week. I answer 13 More Questions from the 100 Question Meme. Stop by if you get a chance.

I might be the odd ball here but I enjoy snow here in Atlanta. The only reason is that it melt the next day. :)

I am from Orlando, and moved up
North to get away from the heat.
I appreciate the cooler temps but
this year I have had it. Blech!

In ref #4 - how about people who
say "Stay Warm" as you are headed
outside? Come on!

Happy T13! Everyone! My T13 this week is project related...

I didn't do a TT, but I wanted to add to your #13- Ice, esp when it is hidden under a fresh layer of snow and so is extra invisible.

I can agree! In Arkansas, in the winter time we consider 45 a high but in the summer time, 45 is a low. Amazing how that works!

I live in Michigan and I can seriously say I'M SICK OF WINTER! My god, will the snow ever stop? I swear I almost got frost bite last night trying to take photos of the moon.

I'm also amazed at all the girls that come to school in skirts. Hello? It's 9 degrees outside.

when it's in the 30's and I see folks in shorts and tees I think they're nuts.

Oh I'm with you on all of these - I'm so sick of the cold and snow and wind and ice... It feels like spring will never come!

Great list. Here in TN it is not as cold but as I was bundling Hunter up to go the store I was thinking how ready for warm weather I am!!

As Sophia said on the Golden Girls when asked what setting her electric blanket was on, "Seven. At nine you can cook a Lean Cuisine."

I am right there with you on this whole winter thing. Today we're going all the way up to 19.
Woo-frickin'-hooo... nineteen.
No wonder everyone is sick.

I agree. I want summer to come now.

I'm so sick of the temps this winter, too. And then they go and cancel school so that I get to be locked up all day with my kids who want nothing more than to go outside.

I don't think so.

You just listed all the reasons my husband used on me to get me to agree to move to Texas last Spring.

As I sit here writing this my toes are freezing even though I have my space heater on.

I'm so with you on the people who don't wear coats but the people who truly confound me are the people who wear FLIP FLOPS!!!!! These people have to own cars. There's no way you're going to wait for a bus in the middle of winter in beach wear.

I feel for you because I am very cold natured, too. But, thank goodness I live in a southern state where we don't get the minus 0 temps!

Out here you can get a ticket for leaving your car on and unoccupied... I'm ready for spring, but I'm not ready for the 100 degree temperatures!
