Overextension

I am a bad blog buddy! I feel like it has been ages since I have sat down and visited everyone’s blogs, and I feel horrible. Things have been so crazy busy the last few weeks, that I’ve decided I need to sit down and think of ways to cut back on my activities. I’m an over-achiever when it comes to over-extending myself, and that tends to get me in trouble.

I think I’m going to try to limit my Passion Parties to about three a month. You all know I love doing the Passion Parties, but I think I need to start keeping the weekends open for family time. I like being busy, but when I’m busy, I’m stressed. Then I get cranky and irritable, and no one likes a cranky mommy.

I know I’m edgy when every other blog I write is about my child’s latest temper tantrums. I started to wonder if she could possibly be reflecting my own petulant attitude. Hmmm . . .

I also know it’s bad when I start to stress over things that shouldn’t get to me. For example, I went to Starbucks today. (Yes, my prayers were answered – they just opened a drive-thru Starbucks by my house!) Anyway, my issue with them is this: Can’t they stir the freaking drinks?!

I have started drinking the iced coffee because I can suck it down faster than the hot coffee, thereby getting the caffeine into my system that much quicker. Today, I ordered an iced nonfat mocha with four shots. I can tell they put the espresso in first, and never stirred it. I took one long sip of the straw and sucked up about two espresso shots in my first gulp. Not. Cool! That was a little much even for me. Stir the damn drink, people!

But I think my crankiness really hit me when Eli and I got into a full-fledged debate over the Pinky Dinky Doo Story Box song. I think the last line is “Where every story rocks. Story rocks!” Eli thinks it says “Where every story rocks. Story box!” We have seriously been arguing about this for two days. He’s four. What the hell is wrong with me?! I am right though. You can find the song at www.pinkydinkydoo.com if you want to check it out.

Anyway, this weekend I am having a jewelry party because I thought it would be fun, or just a good reason to drink, I’m not sure. Then Saturday night I have a Passion Party. Sunday, we’re going to an art fair.

One of these days I am seriously going to sit down and do nothing!

I think that's one of the reasons I never made it "big" selling PartyLite - I never wanted to work on weekends, and I would do shows only on certain nights of the week. I was told that's what was great about home-based selling businesses (you set your own hours), but my plans didn't always coordinate with those of potential hostesses.

Ultimately, you have to decide what's best for you, and that will be what's best for your family. If you're comfortable with it, then it will be okay.

Take care of yourself - no one else will, Mom! Good luck.

When life beckons, I say live it!

The cool thing about blogs is that you can post a quick "hey y'all I'm super busy and I'll be back soon" and everyone understands.

We'll be here when you get time.

OMG! I can't believe it!! My 5 year old and I are having the same argument today!!!! I am going to listen to the song now....though I am *sure* the second line is "...story rocks." !! Thanks for the laugh and camaraderie (even a year ad a half later)!!!
