3-Word Meme

Dude! I am so behind on memes that it’s not even funny. I have one from Peanut that I still haven’t done, and I think she’s going to kick my ass if I don’t do it soon.

Since Tuesday night's Mo Show is on Memes: To Meme or Not To Meme, I thought this would be a perfect day for me to do a meme. Plus, I didn’t have time to truly blog blog today because I was stealing every free moment I had to read!!

Not that I had many free moments. I think the children are working against me. Georgia didn’t even nap today, and I only managed to read about 100 pages. Gaaa! With any luck I will finish the book by end of day Tuesday.

Plus, I went to get my hair cut tonight, and while I was processing, I whipped out Harry Potter. There was another woman there who was reading it, and looked like she was almost finished. She said, “Have you gotten to the part where-” and that’s as far as she got before I screamed, “STOP!” I told her where I was in the book and she said, “Oh, so you haven’t gotten to the part where you really cry.” Grrr! I basically told her that she could suck it! Jeez! Can’t I go anywhere without someone trying to give things away?!!

But I digress. Memes! Morgen kindly tagged me with the 3-Word Meme. All your answers have to be three words. So, here we go!

Restaurant Meme

Sadie tagged me for the Restaurant Meme! Yippee skippy! This is one that I’ve been excited about! These are the rules:

1. Link to the name of the person who tagged you.
2. Include the state and country you’re in.
3. List your top 5 favorite places to eat at your location (locally).
4. Tag 5 other people (preferably from other countries/states) and let them know they’ve been tagged.

I live in Overland Park, KS, USA (suburb of Kansas City, MO). My top five favorite places to eat (and boy was it hard to narrow it down) are:

1. Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue – This is my absolute favorite restaurant. There is one blocks from my house here in OP, and there is one on the KC, MO side. They have the best freaking lamb ribs you have ever tasted in your life. Perfect sauce. AND the best side ever – cheesy corn bake. Oh yeah, baby! Even though this restaurant is only available in the KC area, you can buy their products through QVC. Go for it. Taste the heaven!

2. J. Alexander’s – I didn’t even realize this was a chain until five minutes ago when my husband informed me. Either way, they have awesome food. Anything from steak to chicken sandwiches, they are awesome. They have the best shoestring fries ever. And their desserts rock. Key lime pie, carrot cake and cheesecake to die for. Okay, I need to stop before I have an orgasm just talking about it.

3. Jalapeno’s – Mmmm . . . Best Mexican food in town. Love their homemade chips, but my favorite thing on their menu is the Jalepeno dip, a white cheese dip with jalepenos in it. It is amazing! They have damn good strawberry margaritas, too!

4. Tomfooleries – This place is located on the Country Club Plaza, and it has a very eclectic menu with all kinds of burgers and sandwiches. They have a great appetizer of fried pickles. Yum-o! And my favorite appetizer? Peanut butter fried chicken salad. Dude! It is the best thing ever! For dessert, don’t forget the smores. And top it off with a Mind Eraser to drink!

5. Spin! Pizza – Great local pizza place! I love the thin crust pizza. This place has an AWESOME chicken pizza that they make with a white cheese sauce. They serve it with a little side salad, and they sell gelato for dessert. It’s really perfect! You can even bring your own bottle of wine, and they will serve it to you!

Tag: Okay, considering everyone I would tag has done this already, how about this? If you are reading this, I tag you! Ha! But come on, this is a fun one!!

Wiki Meme

Morgen at It’s A Blog Eat Blog World just tagged me for this new Wiki Meme. I know I am behind on a couple of memes, but this one sounded fun and easy.

You go Wikipedia, type in the month and day you were born (no year) into their search engine, then you list three events from that day, two birthdays, and one death.
Interesting and fun!

I’m not tagging anyone for this meme, but feel free to do it if you want to!!

Obsession Meme

Skittles tagged me today with the Obsessions meme. This one is a fairly easy concept. Name five things you’re obsessed with and tag five people.

I like how Skittles described it as a quick meme. Do you have any freaking idea how difficult it was to narrow this down to five obsessions? I think it would have been just as difficult to narrow it down to 50. I finally just went with the five things I’ve been obsessed with today.

Coffee – Saying I love coffee is an understatement. I must have coffee by 9:30 a.m. or the headache starts to develop. Even if there is a morning I know I’m going out for coffee, I still need coffee at home before I leave – that’s my pre-coffee. Eric always gets up before me, so he makes the coffee. If there is a morning I get up and there is no coffee made yet, my blood pressure starts to rise.

Baby feet – I don’t have a normal foot obsession. But when I see baby feet, I just want to squeeze them. My baby foot obsession hasn’t disappeared yet with my children. Both children love me to massage, tickle and kiss their little toes. Georgia and I have had many rousing games of foot peekaboo.

Wentworth Miller – I searched the word “obsession” on my blog and almost all of them were about Wentworth Miller. No shocker there. However, the season finale of Prison Break was Monday night, so now I have no new Went until Fall. This makes the obsession worse because I’m hyperventilating with no possibility of a new Went fix.

My pendulous breasts – They’re way too freaking big. We’re still waiting on word from the insurance to see if they’re going to approve my breast reduction. They did come back and say they wanted more pictures. I will gladly flash anyone who will approve my damn surgery. In the meantime, I will look at them in the mirror and push them up, together, smoosh them, scrunch them, and try to imagine them smaller.

Sleep – I think about how much sleep I’m not getting when I’m awoken in the middle of the night by my daughter, Eli’s DVD player, a thunderstorm or Eric’s effing weather alert radio. When the alarm goes off, I think about how tired I am, and wonder if there’s any way I could possibly get a nap. And when I don’t get a nap, I wonder if I’ll be able to get to bed early. And when I don’t get to bed until 11:30, I wonder when the heck I will ever be able to catch up on my sleep.

Okay kids, I’m going to tag Morgen, Sadie, Travis, Sparky Duck and Crazy Working Mom.

Tag, I’m it! The Music Meme

I haven’t been tagged for a Meme in ages, and today I got hit by Morgen from It’s A Blog Eat Blog World and Sadie of Sadie, Sadie Married Lady. When it rains, it pours!!

The theme for this meme is that you list seven songs or CDs that you have listened to lately and then tag seven people. (Do I even know seven people?!) Morgen also issued a personal challenge to see how many LazyTown, Barney and Wiggles CDs ended up on my list.

Dude! I could do an entire separate meme for children’s songs so I’m going to try to leave them out, mainly because I’ve been made fun of enough for the fact that I like The Wiggles and Barney.

I’ve also left out soundtracks . . . and 80’s music . . . hey, I have to narrow it down somehow. I listen to a lot of freaking music, apparently.

So, leaving off the aforementioned music, here are seven CDs that have been in heavy rotation on my CD player as of late.

Daughtry by Chris Daughtry – Even though he is Sadie’s rock star boyfriend, I can still enjoy his music, right? Seriously, this is the best album to come out of anyone from American Idol so far!

How To Save A Life by The Fray – I just discovered this group last year. They are amazing! I loved every song they released – such as Over My Head and How To Save A Life – and I finally bought the CD. It is fabulous! Every song on this album is a great one.

Continuum by John Mayer – This is John Mayer’s newest CD. I have been a fan of his from the very first time I heard him, and I own all of his CDs. What an incredible talent!

Taking The Long Way by Dixie Chicks – I could write an entire blog about how much I love the Dixie Chicks and how they got such a bad rap. But since the topic of this meme is not freedom of speech, I will save that for another day. I have seen the Dixie Chicks in concert twice, and they are wonderful performers. I have all of their CDs, too, and they just keep getting better and better.

Let Love In by The Goo Goo Dolls – Oh John Rzeznik, I love you! But who doesn’t love these boys from Buffalo? I haven’t made it to one of their concerts yet, but I have all of their CDs, too. In addition to being great musicians, these guys do everything they can to give back to their community.

Afterglow by Sarah McLachlan – Okay, Sarah McLachlan is one of my unhealthy obsessions and my big girl crush. I have seen her in concert twice, the last being when I was seven months pregnant with Georgia. I love this woman so much, I want to be her. In fact, Georgia came very close to being named Sarah after Sarah McLachlan. She is an incredible songwriter, and she has the voice of an angel. I LOVE this woman. And guess what? I have all of her CDs!

Underage Thinking by Teddy Geiger – I just heard Teddy Geiger last year for the first time. He’s this 17-year-old kid with a great voice, and he is very reminiscent of a young John Mayer. He is going to go far.

Now my seven tags . . . Hmmm, it’s probably not fair to retag Morgen and Sadie is it? I know some of the following people have already been tagged, but seriously, I only know so many people.

Okay, I tag
Sunrunner of Thoughts, Ideas and Wildfires
Desert Songbird of The Ice Box
Julie of Flip This Body
Sparky Duck of Philly Transplant
Heather of Just Heather (because I want to see if she’ll actually do it)
Gattina of Writer’s Cramps and
Donna of Just Me

Macoosh’s Weird Tag

I was tagged last week by Morgen at It’s A Blog Eat Blog World for Macoosh’s Weird Meme. I’m just now getting to it – not because it took me this long to think of nine weird things about myself, but because I was trying to narrow it down! The idea is to write nine weird things about yourself. Soooo . . . here we go:

1. I love to eat mayonnaise on my French fries. I’ve actually heard that in some parts of Europe this is normal, so that makes me feel a little better. But around this area, I get some really strange looks from waitresses at restaurants when I ask for a big old side of mayo to go with my fries.

2. Separation of silverware in the dishwasher. When I am loading the dishwasher, spoons go in one container, forks go in one, and knives go in one. I also separate out the baby silverware into another and serving utensils into another. It’s very anal, I know. And it drives my husband crazy. He tries to mix them up occasionally, but I always redo it the right way.

3. My freakishly wide clown feet. I have very wide feet. And they actually got bigger after two pregnancies. I’m not kidding – after two babies, I went up a full shoe size. In addition to that, I have a pinky toe that is half as small as the rest of my toes and curls in. It’s weird. I would post a picture, but I don’t want to freak you out.

4. The TV volume. You know how the volume on the TV shows numbers on the screen in addition to bars when you turn it up or down? Well, I have to stop it stop on an even number. It can be 20, 22, 24, but God forbid, I cannot stop it on 23. I have tried. I cannot stop the volume on an odd number. My husband thinks this is my weirdest oddity.

5. I secretly like LazyTown. It’s my son’s favorite show, and my guilty pleasure. I actually enjoy watching LazyTown, and I love the music. Sometimes, I will even listen to the CD in my car when Eli is not with me. Before you think this is too weird, I challenge anyone to listen to Bing Bang and not want to get up and dance!

6. Scooping ice cream. When I scoop ice cream out of the container, I do it so the ice cream stays even all the way across. My husband digs a hole in the ice cream, and it drives me crazy. Don’t you love my misplaced sense of order?

7. I have a strong obsession with baby feet. I LOVE baby feet. They are so teeny tiny and cute. My children are totally used to the fact that I tickle and kiss their little feet all the time. I just love baby feet. I’m not sure when the cut-off age for this is because big ole scary adult feet do nothing for me, but I’m lost in the baby feet. Just look at Georgia’s cute little feet!!

8. Weird cooking ritual. I love to cook, and I usually get very hot when I’m in the kitchen. So, I cook with no pants on. I soooo can’t believe I’m telling you this. I just cook in a long T-shirt and underwear. I’m much more comfortable, and this way I don’t get anything on my pants. It’s only bad if someone comes to the door while I’m in the middle of making lasagna.

9. Ultra-sensitive skin. My skin breaks out at everything. In high school, I had to go to the doctor because after I started wearing make-up, because I got a severe rash on my face. Imagine a doctor telling a 16-year-old she shouldn’t wear make-up. That was not easy to deal with. This was before they had all the hypo-allergenic, dermatology-tested stuff. I still have to be careful, but there is some stuff I can wear. I also can’t use fabric softener. My mom used Downy once, and I broke out in hives all over my body. Not comfortable. I could go on and on about the weird skin irritations I have, but I think you get the message.

Now, I am supposed to tag nine people. I don’t even think I know nine people. Plus, if I tag Ian one more time, I think he’ll beat me with his keyboard. So, I will just say that anyone who wants to participate in this, have fun!!
